PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI'S MESSAGE ON INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY
Dear Nigerian Youths, Today is International Youth Day. I am delighted to commemorate this occasion, the second such celebration since I took office. The roles that young Nigerians played in the historic election that brought our government to power will never be forgotten.

This government belongs to you. I would like to use this opportunity to assure you of our commitment to improving the quality of your lives and to creating opportunities for you to achieve your dreams and ambitions. We are mindful of the fact that Nigeria has one of the youngest populations in the world. Those young people are immensely energetic and talented, consistently blazing the trail in the arts, sports, business and technology.

We are proud of what you have done and what you are able to do. We have launched a number of initiatives targeted at expanding the economic opportunities available to young Nigerians. N-Power, our job creation scheme, for which applications are ongoing, will employ 500,000 of you in agriculture, education, healthcare and technology.

The Aso Villa Demo Day will soon bring 30 of the most innovative young Nigerians to the State House to showcase their talent in providing technology-based solutions to some of our most challenging problems. The Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP), part of our N500 billion Social Investment Programme, will provide soft loans to thousands of young entrepreneurs across the country.

These are just some of the many initiatives we have designed and are implementing for you. You are the strength and future of our country. Please be assured that this administration will create an enabling environment for you to realize your potentials.

I wish you all a Happy International Youth Day celebration.
Thank You.
Muhammadu Buhari

IPOB sack Kanu's defence team for their Anti-Avengers statement

Kanu in court

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Today being Friday announced sack of lawyers representing its leader Nnamdi Kanu in his on-going treason trial for misleading the general public on the relationship with Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) and the reported Federal government negotiation.

Barr. Nnamdi Ejiofor, one of the counsels to Kanu, had at a press briefing, while asserting that Kanu has  expressed the willingness of his group to negotiate with the Federal Government to end the agitation for self-governance, also disowned the Niger Delta Avengers as well as MEND over their reported negotiation with the Federal Government.
However, in a press statement released today August 12 and signed by‎ Barrister Emma Nmezu and Dr. Clifford Chukwuemeka Iroanya, spokespersons for IPOB‎, reaffirmed their unflinching support for NDA.

The statement read:
Following the press conference earlier today by our legal team, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Worldwide has been reliably and incontrovertibly informed that some of the utterances of their defence lawyers were made without consultation.
These utterances border on negotiations and some were against the Niger Delta Avengers. As as a result of this unsolicited and unguarded utterances, the defence team has been sacked and will be replaced.
The IPOB leader wishes to state categorically that the only thing we are open to is negotiations that will lead to modalities and processes to restore Biafra and avert further hardships on the people of Nigeria who have been under bondage since his kidnapping and illegal detention.
The Niger Delta Avengers arose because of the inherent injustice in Nigeria as manifested in the disregard to the rule of law when Buhari refused to obey court order to unconditionally release our leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
We spoke the mind of our leader when we stated for record purposes that IPOB and Niger Delta Avengers share the same ideology of freedom for Biafra.
Anybody publicly dissociating IPOB from Niger Delta Avengers is a mortal enemy of IPOB family worldwide under the leadership of Nnamdi Kanu.
Let it be known that as long as Buhari and Daura continue to tamper with Nnamdi Kanu‘s defence team through bribery, inducements and intimidation, IPOB will keep on changing the team.”
It added that “for the records, the press conference by the now-sacked legal team was about bringing to public knowledge the foolishness of the Department of State Services (DSS) in bringing treasonable felony charges against our leader and the lack of evidence thereof.
The press conference was NEVER about negotiations because should negotiations start, IPOB will notify the world about it. Right now, we are not negotiating and will not negotiate until existing court orders ordering the release of Nnamdi Kanu are obeyed.
In the interim, Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor will continue to act as lead counsel until other counsels are appointed who will not sell their souls to the devil. Biafra or death!

Senator Akpabio denies link with Niger Delta Avengers

Read the press statement below...

The Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio has denied being the sponsor of the militant group, the Niger Delta Avengers or any other militant group for that matter.
A recent online publication had alleged that a splinter group, the Reformed Niger Delta Avengers had named Senator Akpabio and other eminent Nigerians were the sponsors of the group.
But a release signed by the Special Assistant on Media to the Senate Minority Leader, Mr Anietie Ekong described the publication as “baseless, reckless and senseless. It is a fabrication from the pit of hell from those who are profiteering from the crisis in the Niger Delta and would wish no end to it.”

According to the press statement, “for the avoidance of doubt, we wish to state categorically that Senator Akpabio has no link with the Niger Delta Avengers or any other militant group for that matter.

“Contrarily, the position of Senator Akpabio as a foremost advocate of dialogue in resolving the Niger Delta crisis is well known. He is of the strong belief that blowing up pipelines and causing further environmental pollution of the Niger Delta is not in the interest of the region as it would take over 100 years to remediate the effects of such environmental degradation.

“Neither does he believe that economic sabotage at a time of economic recession that the nation is presently passing through can be an answer to the Niger Delta problem.

“His abhorrence of violence in conflict resolution is legendary. Therefore it beats our imagination why anybody in a right frame of mind would contemplate associating his name with militancy and degradation of a region he had laboured so much to build while serving as Governor of Akwa Ibom State between 2007 and 2015.

"Coming from Sahara Reporters, we take it as one in a series of falsehood they have fabricated against Senator Akpabio. We recall the national uproar which followed a similar concoction on December 10, 2015 when Sahara Reporters “authoritatively confirmed” that Senator Akpabio had been sacked from the Senate by an Appeal Court which had not even delivered its judgment at the time of the publication. It turned out to be a hoax when the election of Senator Akpabio was later upheld by the Appeal Court," the statement said.

It cautioned that politicizing the Niger Delta crisis through propaganda will amount to an ill wind that will blow nobody any good.

“Rather what the nation needs is concerted efforts by stakeholders to holistically through dialogue address the grievances of the region which luckily President Muhammadu Buhari has already started,” it concluded.
